Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories, established in 1951, was originally known as the Radio Wave Research Institute of the Directorate General of Telecommunications and later as the Telecommunications Research Institute of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. Following the corporatization and privatization of Chunghwa Telecom, it was restructured in 2012 to become Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories. As the dedicated research and development institution of Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd., the Laboratories are committed to advancing telecommunications and information and communications technology (ICT) research and innovative applications. From its initial single research unit, the Laboratories have expanded to nine research units, employing approximately 1,200 staff members, of whom over 96% hold master's or doctoral degrees. The research domains cover broadband networks, mobile networks, operations management, cloud computing, digital innovation, smart IoT, artificial intelligence, and information security4. Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories actively participate in important international standardization organizations and collaborate closely with domestic research institutions and universities.
