Zigbee Certification Milestone

Zigbee Acceleration Continues with 4,000 Certified Products

The Connectivity Standards Alliance has surpassed 4,000 Zigbee Certified products and compliant platforms available to the market and also 1,000 Zigbee 3.0 devices certified. The Alliance marked this major milestone in early April after a surge of certification in early 2021 following a record breaking year for certifications in 2020. The growing number of Zigbee certified products reflects steady market demand, continued deployment, and widespread industry adoption for the low-power wireless technology.

Alliance Certification Programs

The Connectivity Standards Alliance Certification Programs ensure that quality, interoperable devices are available for the standards we support for product developers, ecosystem vendors, service providers, and their customers. The Alliance provides a number of different programs to address various market and product needs for testing and certification: a standard product certification, platform certification, certification by similarity and also a certification transfer program for those white-labeling products.

Certifications for Zigbee 3.0 enabled products have been on the rise since 2020, and this uptick is a clear indicator that major market influencers are choosing open and low-power solutions for their IoT products.

So what does Zigbee Certified mean for the IoT:

For Product developers, it means that Zigbee is a robust, well-deployed, low-risk technology with a diverse, global supply chain including many Zigbee Compliant Platforms to build from. More importantly, it means your Zigbee products will enter a large, established market of Zigbee devices. With built-in interoperability at the application layer as part of the standard, your products will work with any other deployed Zigbee Certified product, giving you a large addressable market with a single product implementation.

For Ecosystem vendors or service providers, you and your users can choose from a global ecosystem of Zigbee Certified products from multiple vendors in every category of the IoT. Out-of-the-box interoperability means greater choice without integration headaches or stranded assets.

For IoT users, whether consumer or commercial, you can purchase Zigbee Certified products, knowing that because they are built on an open, global standard they will work with whatever Zigbee smart home or commercial platform you are using today or in the future.
